Looking back, it’s easy to see how this local businessman’s love affair with Alaska meshed with his sense of adventure. After attending high school in a small town in Northern California, Duane joined the Navy where he worked as an intelligence specialist during the Vietnam era. He spent 13 months overseas on the Mediterranean before returning back home, where he earned his pilot’s license and bought his first plane at the age of 24. Although Duane no longer owns a plane, he still enjoys flying whenever he gets the chance.

Using his extensive career in auto sales and management as a springboard, Duane went to work for an Idaho-based land company, where he sold land parcels. The experience gave him his first taste of real estate and sparked his initial interest in the industry.
